Challenge

Te Ope Kātua o Aotearoa: The NZ Defence Force's Defence Sustainability Initiative program aims to meet several challenges facing the NZDF around its operations' environmental, social, and economic impacts. Some of these include reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, managing waste and water resources, improving biodiversity and cultural heritage protection, and engaging with local communities and stakeholders. The program aims to align the NZ Defence Force's activities with the national and international sustainability goals and standards and to demonstrate its commitment to being a responsible and accountable organization


Strategy

GG International conducted a comprehensive program evaluation, focusing on the suitability and sufficiency of the Defence Force's organizational and structural design and its corporate planning and performance management systems. The assessment examined how well the program aligns with the Defence Force's strategic objectives and operational requirements and identified areas for improvement and best practices, ultimately aligning the strategy with the national and international sustainability goals and standards.
